The aim of these pilot projects is to support local development and set clear examples that can be replicated by others in the community. Based on requests expressed by community members the pilot projects so far have aided the development of guest houses at Roşia Montană and Bucium. Throughout the process the projects' beneficiaries are assisted by Alburnus Maior; from developing a business plan to identifying the market and promotion strategies, writing and submitting a project application etc. The projects are financially supported by private donors via fund-raising events and direct appeals organised by volunteers of the 'Save Rosia Montana' campaign. Depending on a projects' size, rougly two projects can be developed and implemented at a time. Pending requests include the expansion of a carpenter's workshop and the development of a mountain biking business. As part of this process Alburnus Maior facilitates acces to information on funding and credits and organizes exchange seminars with rural communities that have already implemented similar development strategies.
